Weaselhead Walk & Plant Study - Thursday, May 9th

Grade fours spent a lovely, sunny day walking in the Weaselhead Natural Area near Glenbow Park. We found the area to be fairly busily used by other Calgarians, and had to carefully stay on one side of the pathways so that we wouldn't be hit by bikes!  We named various species, looking at leaves to see whether they were compound or simple.  We identified species as being woody or herbaceous.  Ask your child what a "catkin" is!  There was much more, including a good look at decomposers in the area.
