Grade four students from both classes teamed together to give excellent presentations all around the school.  We are helping keep batteries and markers out of the landfill, by running a recycling program here at Langevin.  Teachers said our students explained themselves very well, then left behind bags so that used batteries and markers can be collected.  In June we will take a look at how much we've collected.  Room 306 will be harvesting most of our plant crops soon, but leaving these amazing Morning Glory plants.  These plants are climbing and exploring all over themselves.  Sometimes in a morning we have to unwrap them from where they've wrapped around another plant!  Mostly they are climbing like crazy, and it's very entertaining.  We've had blossoms before, and here is a special end-of-February one, just in time for Griffin's birthday!  Last pic - we had an aboriginal storyteller on Wednesday, and will begin our residency work class-by-class with Quest The

Metis Celebration in Calgary - Maple Sugar Fest! March 2 and 3

Image
Students have been learning about the "Festival du Voyageurs" in French class.  It's an annual celebration near Winnipeg, particularly celebrating the Metis culture.  Check out Mahd wearing a traditional voyageur costume!  There's a Maple Festival happening this weekend - Saturday and Sunday at Heritage Park.  Tickets run around the $15-$19 range and there are all kinds of fun winter sport challenges, as well as music and the famous "tire d'erable" which is the making of maple syrup on a stick.  It's a great chance to get out, have some winter fun and learn more about these people.  Ask your child to tell you who the Metis people were / are.
