Simple Machines work - April

These are some photos from Simple Machine work done in Room 306/Finlay.  In the earlier pictures, students are using K'Nex kits to make their own pulley design, then using the kit instructions to make various lever examples like scissors, a hockey stick and a wheelbarrow.

In the later pictures on a different day, students have a "Rescue" challenge where they pretend they have to try to rescue a hiker who has fallen down the mountain. They have to built a stable platform that the hiker can crawl into, and a winch/pulley to send the platform down the side of the mountain and pull it back up with the hiker.
