Metis Celebration in Calgary - Maple Sugar Fest! March 2 and 3

Students have been learning about the "Festival du Voyageurs" in French class.  It's an annual celebration near Winnipeg, particularly celebrating the Metis culture.  Check out Mahd wearing a traditional voyageur costume!

There's a Maple Festival happening this weekend - Saturday and Sunday at Heritage Park.  Tickets run around the $15-$19 range and there are all kinds of fun winter sport challenges, as well as music and the famous "tire d'erable" which is the making of maple syrup on a stick.  It's a great chance to get out, have some winter fun and learn more about these people.  Ask your child to tell you who the Metis people were / are.
